Trump vs. Iran: Negotiating With the Black Knight (“It’s Just a Flesh Wound”)
Trump is negotiating with the Black Knight from Monty Python — Tehran keeps losing limbs and keeps calling it a flesh wound. Here’s the board. In June 2025, Operation Midnight Hammer put bunker-busters into Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan; whether it “obliterated” the nuclear program is still contested — the White House said years, a leaked Defense Intelligence read said months, the IAEA said severe damage but the stockpile survived. Then in 2026 the U.S. flattened the military spine of Kharg Island — 90-plus sites: radar, missile bunkers, naval mine storage, air defenses. And left every jetty, pipeline, and storage tank standing.
That’s the tell. Kharg isn’t a military island — it’s an oil island. Roughly 90% of everything Iran exports leaves through that one terminal, about half the regime’s revenue comes off those docks, and most of it flows to China. Trump said it out loud: “I have chosen NOT to wipe out the Oil Infrastructure on the Island.” That’s not decency, it’s game theory — a destroyed oil terminal is a worthless corpse; an intact one you could destroy tomorrow is a hostage that keeps the other side at the table. And there’s a second reason, and it’s about you: roughly a fifth of the world’s traded oil passes Iran’s coast, so flattening Kharg spikes pump prices from Shanghai to South Carolina. He needs you happy at the pump for the midterms. So he keeps the pressure on the mullahs and the world economy off his own back at the same time. Watch the pipes.
